If you are struggling with getting approved on UpWork, in this video, I will tell you three other ways you can get your profile approved. And we're starting right now. Hey everyone. My name is Sirarpi. I have been a freelancer for more than two years and most of the time I freelanced on UpWork so these three things that I'm going to suggest today are completely based on my experience - what I found out myself. And I warn you that this is not something to game UpWork terms of service or profile approval. This is what I found out on Upwork.
And I heard that lots of freelancers suggest you change your location, you fake your information, your skills...I'm really against that and at the beginning, I want to encourage you not to do this. You want to build a good relationship with your clients and UpWork first. So make sure all of your credentials and all of your skills are correct and describe you at your best. So, let's get started! The number one thing that you want to do is to check your old emails. Why I'm suggesting this because when I got started, I remembered that I had an old email when I was a student who had already registered on UpWork completely forgot about it. Two years ago when I wanted to start my freelancing career, I remembered that I had already registered on UpWork so what I basically had to do is to log in with my old credentials, change the password, secure everything and get started.
It was as easy as that. But if you don't have an old email, if you are completely new to all of this, what you want to do is to find a freelancer who has an agency profile. This is how it works - when you become a top-rated specialist on UpWork, youreceive an email that you now can create an agency profile and work with a team.I wanted to work with a team and because I have other digital marketing specialists and we wanted to work on big scale projects. But later on, I found out that I need a graphic designer video editor and I don't have anyone in my agency. So what I basically did I contacted my friend who is a graphic designer and asked him if he wants to cooperate. He wasn't on UpWork at that time so I had to ask him his email and get him approved on Upwork. this way he didn't even have to wait for 24 hours to be approved. Basically, when he accepted my invite he was approved. So there are two ways you can be an agency freelancer.
The first one is exclusive and the other one is non-exclusive. Exclusive means that you work exclusively for that agency. And non-exclusive means you can submit job proposals for other clients and work individually.
So before reaching out to agency owners on UpWork, you want to build a good portfolio, you want to make sure they want someone with your skills. No worker would be ready to work with a complete stranger. First, they have to understand if you are reliable if the client will love your job if you meet the deadlines. So before telling them "Hey, please get me approved on UpWork", offer your services and ask them if they have room for you.
You don't want to spam UpWork or the freelancer account, or the agencies. You want to cooperate with someone who actually needs your skills. Another way to get approved is through client profiles. I needed someone to edit my videos and because I already had an UpWork account, I created a client account and I found out that I can bring my talent to UpWork.
This is another way that you can get approved. If you have a client who you work with outside UpWork, you can ask them to invite you to UpWork and work there because UpWork wants long-term cooperation with the freelancer and the client and this is also beneficial for them. These are basically the three things that you can do to get approved.
If you don have any of these changes and you don't get approved on UpWork, don't get discouraged because there are too many other freelancing platforms. For examplefreelancer.com, Fiverr, Reddit communities, LinkedIn..
. you want to make your own research and understand what other platforms you can join. The reason that UpWork doesn't want newcomers, is because you might agree on towork with lower rates and they don't want freelancers with lower rates. You can have the same skills as someone who is already top-rated and when you birdlike three dollars and a top-rated freelancer bids twenty dollars, some clients might want to work with you and UpWork loses money. Because of theytake fees from you. The more you earn, the more they earn. This is their business models.
So don't get discouraged. Try other things, try all these methods I told you, and if not, try other methods of being a freelancer. Because UpWork isn't the only platform you can freelance on.
